"As We Understood God"

   Many people have a problem with the word "God," or the various concepts or connotations the word carries. Some were raised with a strict religious upbringing and resent the ideas and demands presented to them. Still others had no religious upbringing at all or were taught that there is no God and that all life begins and ends at birth and death.

   Many feel that if there is a God, He must be cruel and unusual to create such a cruel and unusual universe. Still others have pondered the question of God until it has driven them to a state of abject confusion.

   The 12 Steps for Everybody does not wish to foist any concepts or beliefs about God onto anyone. We use the word "God" in a general sense to mean any concept of a "Higher Power" that you may have, even if it is nothing more than the collective love and good will of two or more people sharing their experience, strength, and hope with each other.
